CITB Site Safety Plus

CITB Site Safety Plus (SSP) courses are designed to give everyone, from operative to senior manager, the skills they need to progress through the industry.

CITB Site Safety Plus courses range from the one-day Health and Safety Awareness course to the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme. There are also refresher courses to ensure that you are up to date with best practise.

Health and Safety Awareness

This course is for people considering, or already working in, the construction or civil engineering industry.  Ideal for beginners, the course covers potential hazards when working on site and how to look after the health and safety of yourself and others.

SSSTS

This course is for those who are considering, or already have, supervisor responsibilities on site.  It provides a detailed understanding of health, safety and environmental issues and outlines the legal responsibilities of supervisors to be able to work safely and supervise effectively.

SMSTS

The SMSTS course is for those with management responsibilities on site.  It covers all relevant legislation affecting safe working in the construction and civil engineering industries and is considered standard training for all construction managers.  The course also covers risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.

Temporary Works

Temporary works are usually safety and business-critical and require careful supervision. An accepted way of achieving this is through the adoption of the management process outlined in BS5975 which introduces the Temporary Works Supervisor and Temporary Works Coordinator. This course explains the role and the overall management context within which it sits.

FACT offers both Supervisor and Coordinator courses in Temporary Works.

SEATS

The Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme is designed for site supervisors/managers with the aim of providing an introduction to environmental issues on construction sites.  The course provides an overview of sustainability and the environment, relevant legislation and industry best practise, enabling candidates to identify, control and minimise the environmental impact of their work.
